Busy, busy spring

Just when the students thought the school year was winding down, we have begun so many new topics they are busier than ever!!! I love it!!!

On Monday we will be taking out trip to the Palace theater to see Freckleface Strawberry. Our busses will leave right after morning announcements, so please plan on have students at school by 9:20. We will return to school in time for lunch, and a regular afternoon schedule.

Some new, exciting adventures:

Country Project
We are almost done with our research on our assigned countries. The students have worked incredible hard and completed this in record time. Next week we will begin to learn how to use Google Slides. This is very similar to Powerpoint. We will format slides, type our research, format font, and backgrounds next week.
***Reminder: Our country fair will be from 5-6 pm on Thursday, June 2nd in the library. This will coincide with the Art Show.

Electricity
We began our final Science unit on electrical circuits. We began by talking about safety, and the components of a circuit. We also learned about polarity and wiring diagrams. This next week we will create a hidden circuits project and try to identify our class mates' hidden paths using a circuit tester. We will also spend a few days learning about series circuits.

Coding
The students are very excited to begin learning about computer coding. We have an amazing opportunity to work with some recent RPI graduates in a couple weeks. They will come in and show us how to code with three hands-on experiments. To prepare for this event we have begun to learn about coding and have even tried it out. If you would like to try it at home www.code.org is a great place to start.

Finally... The ABC countdown begins next week. The list is going home today. A few of the letters have been changed to meet our third grade needs.

Thank you to our mystery reader Mrs. Lilkas-Rain!
